Geology is the study of the Earth. It includes the study of materials that make up Earth, the processes that change it, and the history of how things happened, including human civilization, which depend on natural materials for existence.

Work with geology and mining engineering student counselors to earn the Geology Merit Badge and learn much more!

This workshop is presented by: The Colorado School of Mines Society of Economic Geologists and Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration student chapters, the Society for  Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration, and the Boy Scouts of America Denver Area Council.

Workshop includes a tour of the CSM geology museum and the outdoor CSM geology trail weather pending. Please bring comfortable walking shoes.

There is no cost, but pre-registration is required by February 9, 2019. Parents of Scouts are welcome to attend the workshop, geology museum tour, and geology trail tour. Lunch and drink for the event will be provided by SME for Scouts only. Parents, please bring a sack lunch and a beverage.

We ask Scouts to bring their own copy of the Geology Merit Badge Workbook, signed Blue Card and Geology MB Pamphlet.
